As sexual overtones in hip-hop music, culture and music videos become more widely accepted, it becomes more and more important for us to pay attention to the affects it has on women's sexuality and body image.

An interesting trend in America that may be partly attributed to hip-hop culture is a change in the mainstream standard of beauty or more accurately, booty. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in 2002, 614 butt implants were performed in the United States. In 2003 that number jumped to 3,885, an increase of 533%. Big butts have traditionally not just been accepted but celebrated in communities of color, and Sir Mix-A-Lot made that clear over a decade ago with his hit song Baby Got Back. Popular culture was a little slower to catch on.

The concept ‘penis envy’, which Freud coined to describe a phenomenon he observed in women – that is, in the middle-class women who were his patients in Vienna in the Victorian era – was seized in this country in the 1940s as the literal explanation of all that was wrong with American women. Many who preached the doctrine of endangered femininity reversing the movement of American women towards independence and identity, never knew its Freudian origin. Many who seized on it – not the few psychoanalysts, but the many popularisers, sociologists, educators, ad-agency manipulators, magazine writers, child experts, marriage counsellors, ministers, cocktail-party authorities – could not have known what Freud himself mean by penis envy. One needs only to know what Freud was describing, in those Victorian women, to see the fallacy in literally applying his theory of femininity to women today. And one needs only to know why he described it in that way to understand that much of it is obsolescent contradicted by knowledge that is part of every social scientist’s thinking today, but was not yet known in Freud’s time.

These good-natured pets are big. Caring for them requires space and a mellow attitude about the lawn and home.

Provide a warm, dry, draft-free environment such as a large doghouse, with plenty of blankets and straw, if your pig is kept outdoors. The more blankets, the happier the pig.

Provide your pig with a child's swimming pool filled with water for cooling down when it's hot. Apply sunscreen (the type used on humans) if your pig often gets sunburned ' pig hair doesn't offer much protection.
